A little about me
Hi guys!! Welcome to my travel blog!

How it happened
I am Sumi, the creator of Eat.Play.Explore.com. I am a Canadian expat living in Switzerland with my husband for, over a year now. Initially I created this website to document our experience in Europe but then I thought, since we've visited so many places and hotspot destinations, why don’t we share our experiences with the rest of the world

Living in Europe has its advantages: all countries are so accessible with short inexpensive flights, and the multiculturalism; Another great advantage of living in Europe is access to the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
The way we travel, is not just to get a country off of our list, but to live the country. We want to travel the world in order to get to know it, meaning, not just go to the major attractions, (not like the major attractions of the country is not to be visited, I mean if they are categorized as major attractions, it is then probably worth the visit) where all the tourists hang out, but to actually connect with locals to talk about their cultures, traditions, the history of the country, the foods they eat, basically anything that relates to the country’s roots (originality). That way when we come back from a visit to a country, we would actually be able to speak about the country in all the different aspects. That helps us get to know the country like a local, what better way can there be to discover the country? Getting to know the locals means getting to know the country.
This way, we believe travel makes you smarter, you broaden your knowledge about the world and what it has to offer, instead of just reading about it in the books, or watching stuff on tv. Exploring the world helps you think outside the box and be an open minded person. It is fascinating is to understand how people adapted to what their country has provided them with, and then evolved from that. It is so interesting to see how countries get developed. All that at the same time as the beautiful places and landscapes you get to discover that the places have to offer.
So we like to go this one step further, we like to go beyond this touristy phase, and actually make nice memories with the locals we spent our time with. Every time we travel, we try to find places where the locals eat, where locals shop, or simply what locals do! It is nice to see the country through the eyes of its people.
Until today, we are in touch with many of the friends we made in so many different countries. And when ever we return to a certain country, we get to visit those friends and it actually makes us feel like we are part of the city because we KNOW someone there already, and they are actually waiting for us! Every corner of the city just seems more familiar.
Finally, we firmly believe travelling makes you feel like you’re on your honeymoon all over again! For those lovebirds out there, travelling is the best activity to include in your life with your partner! We’ve learned more about each other and our relationship than we ever could have if we had stayed in Montreal. We certainly believe our travels have only strengthened our relationship. Traveling with your partner really is a very unique and rewarding experience. I know I wouldn’t change my travels with my husband for anything.
